Teila is a 58 ft narrowboat, she has a diesel engine which provides hotwater via a heat transfer tank, also charges the bank of 4 batteries ( bigger that truck batteries) for the 12v system. An inverter changes this into a 230v system for the likes of TV, DVD,etc. Calor gas bottles for the cooker and gas fridge, yep a fridge that uses gas. So as long as the engine is OK everything else is too. From front to back, the pointy end has a cover called a cratch, no spelling mistake thats what it`s called!! Into the cabin, a saloon /living area, where TV, solid fuel fire, chairs, ect, you get the idea. Then we have the office space all 3ft by 3ft with stools. The shop cabinet comes next then onto the galley/kitchen, cooker, fridge, sink and lots of storage cabinets. Then we have the bathroom area, shower vanity sink and toilet. Bedroom , doublebed ,wardrobes , dressing table. last but not least, the engine room / rear exit. I hope this does`nt sound like a forsale ad, and if it does Teila is not for sale!!!
We have now met Teila`s previous owners, Terry & Sheila and a great reunion was had by all. We meeting Terry & Sheila and them seeing Teila again and meeting Teila`s new owners. A brief history of Teila :- She was built by Conmac Boatbuiders in 1989 to show the high skills and workmanship of the boatyard. She was launched as `Tullamore Dew` the favourite tipple of the boss at Conmac. Terry & sheila bought and renamed her Teila in 1991.The best part is we have a DVD kindly given to us by Terry & Shilia showing us the build from the base plate to completion. More than that, which gives us a shiver of pleasure, is seeing her being launched, the very first time she touched the water in the canal. Her maiden voyage (before being fitted out ) was to my home town of Ellesmere Port on New Years Eve 1989. Then we have the Travels of Teila and the crew, up too the time that Teila was sold. We cannot thank Terry & Sheila enough for this treasure, Teila is part of our lives now and I know she was part of theirs.
It’s nice to see our old boat has caring new owners. Please contact us if you wish to have a natter.
Terry and Sheila – TEILA, so now you know where the name came from if you didn’t already!
Thanks for that comment, Terry and Sheila, I’d always wondered where the name came from and never got round to asking Julie!
